Local color-run planner for flat single crochet

Intarsia Crochet Pattern Generator

Start with the original geometric sample, a blank grid, or a JPG, PNG, or WebP processed only in this browser. The generator turns the current cells into Intarsia color runs for flat US single crochet, marks RS and WS rows, and counts separate working positions instead of pretending that two colors always need two bobbins.

Handedness

Intarsia plans separate color sections; it does not prescribe carrying yarn across the row.

Intarsia is not Tapestry crochet

This tool plans separate color sections for a flat chart. It does not prescribe carrying inactive yarn across the whole row. Change color on the final yarn-over of the preceding stitch, cross adjacent strands on the wrong side as needed, and manage tension by hand.

Read from the bottom in your working direction

Row 1 is the bottom of the chart. Right-handed reading begins right to left on the RS; left-handed reading reverses the instruction direction without mirroring or changing the saved pixels. Every row lists runs whose stitch counts add back to the grid width.

Bobbin guidance is a planning aid

A–B–A has three separate working positions even though it uses only two colors. The displayed segment total is a row-level planning aid, not a promise of a global minimum yarn-ball count or tangle-free working method.
